Doris Fenech a wife, mother, patient advocate, breast care nurse and friend.

 

Europa Donna Malta (Breast Care Support Group) has lost a dear friend and a great breast cancer advocate, particularly for metastatic breast cancer. Doris was an active member of the support group for over 18 years, first as a committee member and then as Vice President, and was also the national representative for Malta of Europa Donna, the European Breast Cancer Coalition.

She was always working for the improvement of services for patients in Malta and Gozo.  She was invited to speak at a number of conferences both locally and abroad, the most memorable occasion being when she gave the keynote speech at the ABC2 (Advanced Breast Cancer) conference in Lisbon in 2013. She was an inspiration to all the delegates at this bi-annual conference.

When she was well, she never missed the opportunity to attend the support group meetings to offer her support. Even when she became ill, she did her best to continue, never thinking of herself but how to help others.

She worked hard to set up the metastatic branch of Europa Donna Malta and, together with other members, was working on an information leaflet for patients with metastatic breast cancer.

 

On behalf of the committee and all Europa Donna Malta members in Malta and Gozo, I salute your courage till the end and offer our deepest sympathy to your husband Ray, your daughters Pearl and her husband, Jasmine and her boyfriend, your mother, brothers and sisters and their families. 

 

Dear Doris, you are gone but will never be forgotten, as your legacy will be with us for all time.

Rest in peace, dear friend, till we meet again.
